I can’t believe it’s been almost one year since the Paralympic Ceremonies and those unforgettable, inspiring games.

For the first time in my life last year, I religiously kept a diary, as a memento of my days of training and rehearsing, the pain and the laughs, the frustration and the giddy excitement. When I read it now, it immediately takes me back and I’m so happy I took the time to write it, especially as nowadays I can’t even remember what I ate for breakfast! I read about my huge black bruises, how I howled with painful shoulders and elbows, and some days all I wrote was ****, ****, **** ! The other, slightly more permanent memento I have is the fabulous tattoo on my back, showing me on my wild trip under the motorbike! Let’s face it, when I’m old and grey nobody is going to believe that story until I show them the tattoo!

In fact it’s a year ago today that I found out what my role would be in the Closing Ceremony. The producers cunningly got me to agree to it without telling me what it would be. I first saw the hi wire, the motorbike and the trapeze underneath it on You Tube. Now I’m on You Tube myself, in my own spectacular few minutes of fame!

Now that was a big buzz!
